TRIPE
I read my new poem
to a publisher friend of mine
he replied
"it's a load of old tripe"
I thought you swine
The very next day
I read him two more
he quickly showed me
his publishers door
I then posted him a poem
I thought a load of tripe
"I love it"
he announced
then used it to light his publishers pipe.
THAT FOOL
The biggest fool
I ever new
sat down next to me
on a pew
As I moved my head
he did too
and when I looked at his foot
he was wearing my shoe
So I turned away
and to my surprise
when I turned back
he looked me straight in the eyes
I thought how strange
what should I do?
then the mirror said
"you fool! that fool is you.
FREE BIRDS
The birds are free
to roam the skies
to play the tree tops
to dive then rise
and in their song
you will hear
"it's freedom that makes me happy dear"
WHY A SAUSAGE IS THE SHAPE IT IS
Make no mistake
it's not so they'll easily bake
that the shape of a sausage
is the shape they make
It's the mashed potatoes, you see
that taste quite bland
yet when served with a sausage
taste quite grand
The most important thing
is not the brand
it's the shape of the sausage
that when pushed in the mash
will easily stand.
MY PET SNAKE
MY PET SNSKE
SWALLOWED A CAKE
THEN A GARDEN RAKE
AND TWO TOY SOLDIERS
THAT BELONGED TO MY FRIEND JAKE
HE ATE MY DADS BOAT
MY MUMS COAT
MY SISTERS DOLLS HOUSE
THEN MY CATS TOY MOUSE
MY PET SNAKE
WAS CERTAINLY NEVER DULL
BECAUSE WHEN I ASKED
IF HE'D LIKE HIS DINNER
HE SAID
"NO THANKS I'M FULL"
